We had <span style="font-style: italic;">surpluses</span>. We were at <span style="font-style: italic;">peace</span>. Everyone else either liked us and/or wanted to be like us.<br /><br />Things have changed. We are in two wars without a real end in sight. Both Afghanistan and Iraq are a mess. Bad policies have given us bad outcomes.<br /><br />And the budget. We had surpluses. We were fiscally sound. Not anymore. Tax cuts and revenue cuts that hurt most people have made this government practically dysfunctional. <br /><br />Say what you want, observations are much stronger than rhetoric.
